Ananda Lila has been involved in the Bhakti Movement for over ten years. Raised in Midwest America, from an early age she yearned for a spiritual path. In her adolescence, she set off on a spiritual quest that led her across North America and South America. Having been on a plant-based diet for over fifteen years, her search ended when she found an Ahimsa community of Guadiya Vaishnavas in Dallas, Texas. She says, "Living in a community centered around authentic yoga practices and a vibrant Vaishnava temple has supported my path and purpose in life." Feeling passionate about living consciously as a mother, she developed 'Mata and Me', a fair-trade Vedic-inspired clothing brand designed for families.
Ananda, whose name means bliss, strives to bring spiritual bliss to others by performing kirtan, teaching the wisdom and practice of both Bhakti yoga and Hatha yoga, and coaching mantra meditation workshops. "Let us spread Bhakti together!" says Ananda Lila.

Martin shares his wisdom gained from almost fifty years of practicing bhakti and helping others apply these sacred teachings in their lives. He explains his idea behind this series. “What I share in Uplift Yourself, Change the World was known to my head long ago, but it took almost half a century to really be known to my heart. The journey from the head to the heart is said to be the longest distance in the universe, and this wisdom is a result of that long journey. My hope is that it make your journey a lot shorter and your life a lot deeper.
Uplift Yourself, Change the World is primarily an inheritance of wisdom from the Eastern spiritual teachings and practices Martin incorporated into his daily life since he was 19, along with his study of various Western spiritual traditions and modern psychological disciplines. Uplift Yourself came about – and came alive - through the insights that matured as he applied these teachings to every challenge and aspect of his life, and then shared his realizations, insights and practical advice with thousands of others. I am so happy he has agreed to share his wisdom with us on Bhakti Radio Network.
The quotes Martin reads are from his new book, also called Uplift Yourself, Change the World. The quotes are in the form of sutras. A sutra Meaning expresses deep truth through codes.of a few words. Traditionally, sutras were meant to meditated upon and explained by a teacher. Martin unpacks each sutra for us in these short talks. I am convinced you will grow a little higher – and deeper - every day with these five minute insightful and practical bits of wisdom.

ASK! Is a community of many different backgrounds and practices which come together to discuss the benefits of spiritual knowledge and how we can Apply Spiritual Knowledge To our lives, To our families, and To our communities.
Our community discusses themes from the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient text in which the protagonist goes into a very deep inquiry about the soul, the meaning of life, and our position and duty in this life. We will look at the answers that Arjuna finds and then we will discuss how these topics are relevant today; in our own lives.
On occasion, we are fortunate enough to have guest speakers who are life-long scholars and practitioners of the Bhakti Yoga tradition. We welcome them to come out and engage our curiosity about the spiritual topics we have been discussing and hear from them about their own experiences regarding these topics.

The world has not yet entered into its daily turmoil. Nature is calm and quiet and will help you meditate. When nature is fast asleep, the animal in us or our unillumined consciousness also sleeps. At that time we are still in the world of energizing and fulfilling dreams, from which reality can grow. Join us everyday for meditation and personal reflection.
This hour is dedicated to soft sounds, chants and sound bowl meditations. As your day comes to a close, take a moment for self reflection and meditation. Find space within your heart for growth, become a better you by embracing the changes that surround you. Become aware of your mistakes and accept them as lessons. Join together as we silently celebrate growth together!
According to Buddhist/Hindu teaching, all of the chakras should contribute to a human's well-being. Our instincts would join forces with our feelings and thinking. Some of our chakras are usually not open all the way (meaning, they operate just like when you were born), but some are over-active, or even near closed. If the chakras are not balanced, peace with the self cannot be achieved. Join us as we guide you through the chakras and create balance in your life.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others.
Mantra Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, it becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur). If we are able to shift our perspective, we can change our relationship to the issue that may be preventing us from experiencing our optimal homeostasis. Sound not only helps with inducing relaxation, but also has a way of moving through areas of blockage. These energetic blockage areas can be located in our physical bodies, our subtle bodies, or both. The physical body is where we experience localized pain and discomfort.
Our "subtle body" is our energetic body. This body is where our life force energy exists, commonly referred to as Qi, Chi or prana.
In Chinese medicine, meridian points are used to pinpoint areas that have restricted energetic flow to our physical and subtle bodies. The body is known to have thousands of these meridian lines that are mapped out through the body, in the same way we've mapped out the latitude and longitude of the earth. The subtle body holds imbalances and traumas that can eventually manifest in our physical bodies, which is why it's important to look at healing and balance not only from a physical perspective, but as a complete holistic experience that includes mind, body and spirit.
The sounds and mantra chanting on our radio have the ability to positively affect our whole being and our surroundings. Using sound as therapy can provide results for a variety of issues including:
